Outdoor Learning & Forest School
Our school is committed to using the outdoor classroom and giving children memorable experiences to enhance their education. There are many proven benefits to learning outdoors and connecting with nature, including improved mental and physical health, wellbeing, engagement, academic attainment, behaviour, attitudes to learning, cognitive skills, resilience, self-esteem, social skills, personal development and pro-environmental behaviours.
The School Site & Breech Lane
The main school site offers a range of spaces where children can engage in their learning in the open air and our Breech Lane playing field with pavilion provides a fantastic space for children to learn for longer sessions. Additionally, we use the amazing natural spaces we are surrounded by in the village and beyond.
Forest School
A crucial part is our Forest School trips which allow children to explore and learn from the natural environment.
Cygnets (Reception) and Swans (Year 1) typically take part in a Forest School session off-site each month with all other year groups attending a session each half-term throughout the year. These sessions are based on a variety of curriculum themes which are co-planned with our Forest School trained staff and class teachers.
Please see more information in our Forest School handbook below.
