What is safeguarding and child protection?

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

Safeguarding means:

• protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
• preventing harm to children’s health or development
• ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
• taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes

If you see anything that you feel is impacting on the welfare of any member of our community (child or adult), please speak to a member of staff. 

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mr Richard Laing (Head of School). 

In his absence please ask to see Mrs Romero or Miss Tutton who are both trained as Designated Safeguarding Leads. 

Mr Samuel is also trained as a DSL and supervises the Safeguarding provision across the school.

All members of our school community are expected to play their part in keeping children safe and appropriate levels of training will be given to any individual who is taking part in school activities. Additionally, current DBS checks will be required for specific activities.

Prevent Duty 

It works to ensure that people who are susceptible to radicalisation are offered appropriate interventions, and communities are protected against radicalising influences. Prevent is a safety net against radicalisation. It aims to intervene early, to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
